Accounting & Compliance
Rothstone Accountants is a UK-based professional services firm providing accountancy, tax, and advisory services. Our activities are predominantly office-based and carried out within the United Kingdom.
Given the nature of our operations, we assess the risk of modern slavery within our direct business activities to be low. However, we recognise that risks may arise indirectly through third-party suppliers, outsourced services, and clients operating in higher-risk sectors.
Rothstone Accountants has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, transparently, and in compliance with all applicable laws and professional standards, including those expected by ICAEW.
To support this commitment, we have established and maintain the following:
An Employee Code of Conduct, setting out expectations around ethical behaviour, legal compliance, and professional integrity.
A Whistleblowing Policy, enabling employees to report concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
Policies aligned with economic crime prevention and ethical conduct, which support the identification and mitigation of modern slavery risks.
These policies are communicated to staff and form part of our governance framework.
We apply proportionate due diligence procedures in relation to:
Suppliers and third-party service providers, with particular attention to those operating in higher-risk industries or jurisdictions.
Clients, especially where activities involve sectors recognised as higher risk for labour exploitation, such as construction, agriculture, or manufacturing.
Where appropriate, we seek assurances that suppliers and counterparties adhere to ethical labour practices and applicable laws.
Rothstone Accountants is committed to fair, lawful, and transparent recruitment practices. This includes:
Verifying all employees’ right to work in the UK prior to employment.
Ensuring employment arrangements are voluntary, fairly remunerated, and compliant with UK employment law.
Using reputable recruitment agencies where applicable.
We recognise the importance of awareness in identifying and preventing modern slavery. We are committed to:
Raising awareness among staff of modern slavery and human trafficking risks.
Encouraging employees to report any concerns through established internal channels.
Embedding ethical conduct as part of our professional culture.
As part of our ongoing compliance and governance development, we are committed to:
Enhancing supplier oversight through clearer ethical expectations and standards.
Formalising supplier and recruitment frameworks as the business grows.
Reviewing and strengthening policies and procedures to ensure continued alignment with regulatory expectations and best practice.

It will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in our business, regulatory environment, or risk profile.
